TRUTH: Jesus Gives Access to the Father

Access is one of the most desired privileges one seeks. There are shows like Access Hollywood that touts access to those who are interested in following movie stars. We have access codes to enter into building or complexes whether business or personal. Without the code, you cannot access a building, an ATM machine, an email account, a home, a part of plant or hospital, or specific places designed for those with special privileges. Generally speaking, access is defined as the ability, right or permission to approach, enter, speak with , or use; admittance. The Greek word used for access here is prosagōgē (pros-ä-gō-gā’). It has been submitted that in oriental courts there was a prosagoges who brought a person into the presence of the king. Jesus, through the Spirit, brings us into the presence of God. One can see that without access one is denied entrance into a desired place. TRUTH: Jesus Gives Access to the Father

Theologically speaking, the bible teaches that we have access to God only through Jesus. Without Christ, no one can have access to God. Let’s listen to the Word to confirm that claim.

Ephesians 2

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his fleshthe law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundationof the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy templein the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Remember, it is sin that separates or blocks us from having access to God where He hides His face from us and does not hear us. Sin is man’s primary problem. Atonement for sin has to be made in order for man to be united or in union with God. Without Christ, we have no access. Let’s reflect on what Jesus said about the matter. TRUTH: Jesus Gives Access to the Father

I AM the True Vine (John 15:1-17)

I AM the Way, Truth and Life (John 14:1-7)

I AM the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:1-44)

I AM the Good Shepherd (John 10:1-18)

I AM the Door (John 10:1-9)

I AM the Light of the World (John 8:12-18; 25-30)

I AM the Bread of Life (John 6:25-35; 48-59)

TRUTH: Jesus Gives Access to the Father
Jesus said “27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.(Matthew 11:27) “In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” In John 10:9, Jesus said, “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.” Furthermore, Paul tells Timothy that “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.

We see in Acts 4:12 that Jesus is the only one to bring salvation. Hebrews 10:19-20 says, “19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,” David Gusik wrote that Jews and Gentiles are to be presented unto God the Father; the Spirit of God works in their hearts, and prepares them for this presentation; and Jesus Christ himself introduces them.” (Clarke) Finally, we see in Hebrews 9 that “12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.”  “25 Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.” We see the doctrine of the Holy Trinity at work in Ephesians 2 – Jesus died and left His Spirit who indwells believers and speaks or communicates with God for us. We are told in 1 Corinthians 2 that ” What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.” TRUTH: Jesus Gives Access to the Father

If you don’t know Jesus as Lord and Savior, you do not have access to the Father. As such, you are still a foreigner and stranger without citizenship in heaven and not one of God’s children who has no membership in His household. TRUST Jesus. TRUTH: Jesus Gives Access to the Father
