TRUTH: God Will Repay You

Because we live in a fallen world, all of us sin. Consequently, people will do us wrong. The Facebook Killer is the most recent case that is well-known. While almost everyone would agree his behavior was vile, how many of us would respond as the family of the man he killed. Payback, vengeance, or get back is a common experience. There is not a human alive that has not either thought or acted on such thoughts, but God says “Vengeance is Mine, and recompense;” or It is mine to avenge; I will repay. (Deuteronomy 32:35TRUTH: God Will Repay You

TRUTH: God Will Repay You was seen in Deuteronomy 7:7-11. Let’s read and reflect.

The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. 10 But those who hate him he will repay to their face by destruction; he will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him11 Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws I give you today.

TRUTH: God Will Repay You is right there in black in white. It is right there in the Word of God. God conveys that He expects us to obey and follow Him. For those who love Him and keep His commands, He promises His love. Furthermore, Jesus said, “You are my friends if you do what I command.” (John 15:14) Conversely, we are God’s enemies if we do not do what He commands. For that, we see in Deuteronomy 7 the TRUTH: God Will Repay You. He says, “But those who hate him he will repay to their face by destruction; he will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him.” God equates disobedience as hate toward Him.

I am not sure about you, but there are enough people in this world that act as enemies toward me, so I do not need to add to that list unnecessarily. Beyond that, who could be more of an enemy than Almighty God? I do not want to oppose God; do you? If so, TRUTH: God Will Repay You. Paul tells us “17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.” We learn how we can avoid God repaying us in Romans – Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

Now that you know the TRUTH, I ask Will God Repay You?
