TRUST: Blessings or Curses for You?

We all know that our choices have consequences. The consequence will either help us or hurt us. If you fail to pay your bills, you will lose service for what you did not pay. If you fail to maintain our vehicles, they will fail a lot quicker than normal. If we water our plants or crops, they will grow and provide the beauty or fruit we desire. If we follow the speed limit, we have no fear of the siren and lights of the police car that springs out of now where. Whether in the affirmative or the negative, we can see TRUST: Blessings or Curses for You?

Our choice is what drives TRUST: Blessings or Curses for You? As the originators of our faith, the Israelites give us insight into how we are to relate to God. We see God pronouncing blessings or curses to Israel in Jeremiah 17. When we TRUST in God, it leads to blessings. When we fail to TRUST in God, it leads to curses. Let’s see what He said in Jeremiah 17.

“Judah’s sin is engraved with an iron tool,
    inscribed with a flint point,
on the tablets of their hearts
and on the horns of their altars.
Even their children remember
    their altars and Asherah poles[a]
beside the spreading trees
    and on the high hills.
My mountain in the land
and your[b] wealth and all your treasures
I will give away as plunder,
    together with your high places,
because of sin throughout your country.
Through your own fault you will lose
    the inheritance I gave you.
I will enslave you to your enemies
in a land you do not know,
for you have kindled my anger,
    and it will burn forever.”

This is what the Lord says:

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who draws strength from mere flesh
and whose heart turns away from the Lord.
That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

The heart is deceitful above all things
    and beyond cure.
    Who can understand it?

10 “I the Lord search the heart
    and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”

It is absolutely clear, evident, indubitable, lucid, plain, transparent, unambiguous, and unmistakable how God feels about man TRUSTING in Him. God demands TRUST in Him. Without faith in God, that man/woman is cursed. Cursed is the one who trust in flesh and turns away from TRUSTING in the LORD GOD. TRUST: Blessings or Curses for You?

There isn’t anything else for me to say. I want to encourage us all to simply TRUST God. That means more than what it sounds like. It means that we obey Him. We disobey God when we think what He has told us is not right or sufficient. God has accounted for everything when He tells us something. He is omniscient and omnipotent. He knows all and has all power. What else do we need to be convinced of? Obviously, we don’t get it because we ALL struggle in trusting or demonstrating our faith in God; yet, the choice remains. TRUST: Blessings or Curses for You?
