I Find No Guilt in Him

Of all of the people you know, how many of them could it be said that I Find No Guilt in Him? I am confident that none of us can say that about ourselves or anyone else that we know. We all have a sense of right and wrong etched into our genetic code. Why is that? Because God has made it plain to all of mankind. Despite that, man is unwilling to believe in God. We are certainly unwilling to follow Him in obedience. We want to live our way regardless of the cost. Since man is unwillingness to obey God, His wrath is directed to us.

Since I Find No Guilt in Him cannot be said about any of us, we pervert the truth. Remember, Jesus is the truth; God’s Word is truth. By our very existence, we deny the truth. Listen to what the psalmist said about our disobedience. Psalm 14:1-3

The fool says in his heart,
    “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
    there is no one who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven
    on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
    any who seek God.
All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
    there is no one who does good,
    not even one.

We all have turned away from God. None of us desires to pursue Him in and of our own desires or strength. Romans 8:5 says, “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Since we all have sinned or turned away, we fail to fulfill the righteous standard God has set for man; thus, we are unrighteous. God’s Word says that Our sin renders us unrighteous.

Who then can it be said I Find No Guilt in Him? Only in Jesus. As the Jews took Jesus to Pilate to be put to death, they revealed why they wanted Him dead. John 19:7 says, The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has made himself the Son of God.” To the Jews, Jesus was guilty. Pilate, on the other hand, said, “I Find No Guilt in Him.” In fact, we know on at least three instances (John 18:38, 19:4,6) that Pilate told the Jews that I Find No Guilt in Him. God too had informed them of Jesus’ state. Luke 3:22 tells us “And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son,(B) whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” “Despite that, the Jews shouted “Crucify! Crucify!”

Whether we believe in God or in Jesus as God, we all believe that we do wrong. The Word of God calls doing wrong sin. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. How do we escape that death? Romans 6:23 also answers that question by saying “but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” In Romans 1:16-17, Paul also answers the question. He says, “16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”” It is by faith in Jesus Christ as Son, Savior and Lord.

Jesus too answers how do we escape that death. In John 17:19, Jesus says, “For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.” Once again, Romans tells us “16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”[b]” We must have faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior if we want to be considered righteous by God. It is Christ’s righteousness that spares us from the wrath of God. John the Baptist said, “36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.John 3:36

I have believed in Jesus as God’s Son and as Savior and Lord. Because I have, Jesus has declared me righteous before God. We know from 2 Corinthians 5:21 that Jesus was given by God the authority and ability impute His righteousness to those who believed in him. As such, God will say of me I Find No Guilt in Him. Have you trusted in Jesus as Son, Savior and Lord? If not, it will not be declared of you by God that I Find No Guilt in Him. Trust Jesus and be forgiven of your sins and declared righteous before God. Only in that will you escape the wrath of God.
