The Door to See God

In the post The Father Draws to Jesus, it was submitted that the only way that one surrenders his/her life to Jesus as Lord and Savior is by the Father drawing. Spurgeon’s sermon on the matter is available for us to read and hear. In the essence of it, Spurgeon captures Man’s Inability to respond the Gospel Call which supports Jesus claim in verse 44.

Now today, I want to present further affirmation that Jesus is The Door to See God, but God is the key to unlock the door.  We all know that doors with locks can’t be opened unless you have a key. Now some will say the door lock can be picked or knocked down. Yes, that is true in the physical sense; however spiritually, who can pick salvation’s door or knock it down? No one. Who can pick heaven’s door or knock it down? Again, no one.

Jesus says that He is from God, and the only one who has seen God. His point is that since He has done that, He has the right to extend that privilege to those who come to Him. Jesus says that He is The Door to See God, but God is the key to unlock the door. Verse 44 of John 6 says,“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. In our text today, Jesus again affirms what He said in verse 44. Let’s read it.

45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.

Jesus confirms His claims by referencing the prophets. That is, the prophets who foretold what Jesus is saying here. Click here to see some of those verses. ‘They will all be taught by God.’ is a reference that God will teach them and cause them to be His people and He their God. Jesus says that He is The Door to See God, but God is the key to unlock the door.

Have you ignored the call of God? When God has caused some one to talk to you about Him or spoken to you from something you read or saw, did you ignore what God said? Perhaps, you have not heard God. Either way, you still must go through The Door to See God. Have you asked God to unlock the door of salvation for you? If not, ask God to help you. The mere fact that you are reading this says that He is already helping you. Be blessed.
