The Shield of Faith

According to, a shield is defined as a broad piece of armor, varying widely in form and size, carried apart from the body, usually on the left arm, as a defense against swords, lances, arrows. The Roman shield was large enough to cover the whole body; it was made of wood, covered with hide, and bound with iron at the top and bottom. We know from history that arrows, darts, swords were used as weapons. If any of those pierced your body, especially the upper torso, it usually lead to death. Minimally, it severely wounded a soldier, so that he could not continue fighting.

We are saved by grace through faith. We are told that the just shall live by faith. Paul tells us we are justified by faith. Considering those statements among many others, our faith is very important. If we are saved, live and justified by faith, we must protect our faith at all cost. The Shield of Faith is able to extinguish fire arrows that had been dipped in pitch and set ablaze. Our faith is besieged daily because when we doubt God we are susceptible believe in thoughts suggested by the evil one that tells us God can’t do and God doesn’t care. When God is relegated to being unable and uncaring, we distance ourselves from Him. When we distance ourselves from God, we essentially die. This is why the Word says “the righteous will live by faith

Now, we must see that our faith is so vital to our lives in Christ. We must not doubt God can or cares. Put on The Shield of Faith, so we can stand our ground in faith realizing the benefits of our belief in the triune God.
