Why You Should Listen to God’s Word and Believe It.

Whether we believe someone has everything to do with our perception and/or knowledge of who that person. Some kids believe in Santa Claus because their perception is that he will deliver great gifts to them for Christmas. Their parents, who are well-informed, realize that Santa is not real; therefore, they don’t believe in Santa. Let’s make it more practical. There are even times when you may not believe your spouse, parent, child or friend. Why? Your perception has created doubt that the person who would normally act one way has acted in a manner contrary to the norm for him/herself.

This reasoning works with people, but it is flawed with God because God never changes. Would you agree that God is faithful? According to dictionary.com, faithful is defined as reliable, trusted, or believed; true to one’s word, promises, vows; strict or thorough in the performance of duty. Those are all indicative of one who is faithful. God’s faithfulness is Why You Should Listen to God’s Word.

Let’s hear the Word of God. Below are a few verses from John 3 where John the Baptist gives a testimony about Jesus. Note: John’s disciples came to him out of fear or envy about what Jesus was doing which usurped John’s position. John, understanding his being, was humble and conveyed the truth. Listen to the words he spoke that God captured in His Word.

John 3:31-36

31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

John is very clear as to Why You Should Listen to God’s Word. According to John, never mind that Jesus is from heaven. Jesus is above all. Jesus testified to what He has seen and heard. Jesus is not believed. Despite that, Jesus speaks the words of God. Jesus has the Spirit without limit. Jesus is loved by the Father. Jesus has everything in his hands.

Now, now, now, here it is. Here is Why You Should Listen to God’s Word and Believe It. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. You will have eternal life and have the wrath of God lifted off you. If this is not enough to motivate you to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, I am saddened for you.
