Remember the Lord Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

“What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” James 4:1-3

Essentially, James tells us that we get into conflicts, arguments, and fights because of selfishness. Personally, I have to agree. Almost every time that I am angry with someone or some circumstance it is because I do not get what I want. Let’s face it. We are very prideful people. We want what we want when we want it and how we want it. This mindset is contrary to God’s. For anyone who calls Jesus Lord, we no longer are afforded to live for ourselves but for Him. Remember 2 Corinthians 5:15 “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”

As such, it is even more poignant for us to Remember the Lord Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” As we navigate this day and find ourselves getting angry or quarreling, examine our hearts to see if we are trying to get what we want. Then, Remember the Lord Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
